Managed Care EVV Hard Launch – October 1, 2025
Effective 10/1/2025, NC Managed Care will fully enforce EVV for Home Health Care Services (HHCS).
Who Does This Impact
- Home Health Care Services (HHCS) who send EVV Visits to HHAeXchange and/or CareBridge.
- This does not apply to Personal Care Services (PCS) or Community Alternatives Program (CAP) Providers.
What You Need to Know
- No changes are required in Barnestorm: you have already implemented EVV and are collecting EVV data on each visit.
- All Barnestorm Point of Care users must have Location Services enabled on their device.
- Confirm the green light is active below the Main Menu – this ensures GPS is captured at Start Visit and Finish Visit.
- ALL EVV Visits are expected to be sent through HHAeXchange or CareBridge timely AND prior to submitting claims.
The Seven EVV Requirements
- Type of service performed
- Individual receiving the service
- Date of the service
- Location of service delivery
- Individual providing the service
- Time the service begins
- Time the service ends
Managed Care Direct Billing
- If you chose not to use Direct Billing, no changes are needed.
- If you choose to bill directly to a Managed Care payer (instead of using HHAeXchange or CareBridge e-billing):
- Submit a support ticket to HHAeXchange or CareBridge to request e-billing be disabled.
- Claim information must match the aggregator:
- Member Medicaid ID
- Date of Service
- CPT/HCPCS + Rev Code
- Must be an exact match
- Claim must include CPT/HCPCS AND Revenue Code sent to HHAX
- TIN & NPI
Resources
⚠️ Important: - Routinely log into your aggregator portal to verify EVV Visits are complete and without errors.
- Visits must show up in the aggregator without errors prior to billing.
