Adding ICD Codes to a Patient Chart
Overview
Add ICD-10-CM codes to the patient’s chart if you plan to generate claims in Barnestorm.
Where to Enter ICD Codes
- From the patient Referral, select ICD History, or
- From the main menu, go to Patient Histories > ICD History.
ImportantThe ICD effective date must be on or before the patient’s admit date. The admit date displays at the top of the ICD History screen.In most cases, the ICD effective date should default to the admit date.
How to Add ICD Codes
- Click New Date.
- Enter the ICD code using Code Number or Description, then click Save.
- Repeat for any secondary codes.
- When finished, click Save All Changes.
NoteSome payers require a minimum number of diagnosis codes on the claim.
