1. Click the Billing button from the Main Menu.
2. Click the HIPAA Transactions item at the top of the screen.
3. Select the View HIPAA Transactions item. The screen below will appear.
4. Select 277 or 999 – for Medicare response files.
5. Select the From and Thru dates of your search.
6. Type in the program/payer, or select it from the list. Click the Refresh buttons as needed.
7. On the right side of the screen, select the file/transmission you want to review the response for.
8. The file data will appear, showing the transmission number and if it was accepted (A) or rejected (R)
9. Click the Close Text Display button in the upper right when you are finished looking at the file.
10. Exit (upper right) when you are finished.
In order for the response files to appear, you will need to download them from the payer sites, (such as Availity, Ability and Waystar), to your Barnestorm claims folder.
