Set Up a Special Contract Rate for a Specific Patient

This article describes how to set up a special contract rate for a specific patient. For example: Code 16 is $75.00/visit for a nursing visit but the branch manager has negotiated a "special" rate for a patient who needs a blood draw at $35.00/visit. Without setting up a new code, you can change the rate for this patient only.

    1.Select the patient.

2.Click on Patient Histories and from the list that pops up, select Special Rates.

3.Click on the payer, then fill in the job code (make sure a description shows up - will cause issues if job code not selected).

4.The default From Date is the patient's admit date, and the default Thru Date is one year after that. Fix these dates as needed. They are there so that when other rates are negotiated, you can see a history of them.

5.Now enter the rate to be charged. The number of hours and number of visits are just for information; fill them in if they apply or leave them with zeros.

    6.Click the Save button.

TO CORRECT OR DELETE AN ENTRY, CLICK ON IT IN THE BOX BELOW THE SAVE BUTTON.  IF YOU NEED TO DELETE THE ENTRY, A DELETE TAB WILL APPEAR ON THE SCREEN (AFTER YOU SELECT THE ENTRY).

IF YOU WANT TO PRINT PATIENT CONTRACTED RATES, SELECT 03/36 PRINT PATIENT CONTRACT RATES BUTTON.

Note:  If you have already keyed in the visits then you will need to resave them from the Employee Activity > Visit Entry screen.  This will recalculate the rate to the special rate.
