As of November 2011, we have submitted many successful 5010 tests to Medicare and Medicaid and Barnestorm is ready for the switch to HIPAA 5010 format. PGBA is processing our application to add us to the list of approved 5010 vendors, but rest assured that this process is in progress and will not impact your claim submissions or payments through Barnestorm.
In addition, CMS recently announced a 90-day period of enforcement discretion for compliance with new HIPAA transaction standards. This means that they will not enforce the HIPAA 5010 requirement until March 31, 2012.
North Carolina Division of Medical Assistance (DMA) has decided to continue with the dual processing of 4010A1 and 5010 837 transactions ONLY until March 31, 2012.
